Pi Kappa Phi | 1150 College Ave | Boulder, CO | 80302
In early 1991, Pi Kappa Phi nationals sent out representatives to CU to raise interest in a Pi Kapp chapter. In only a few months, enough men were recruited and requirements were met to found a chapter. The Eta Gamma Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi received its charter on November 22, 1991.
Pi Kappa Phi is the only fraternity that owns and operates its own national philanthrophy, PUSH America. PUSH America's main focus points are raising awareness for people with disabilities, through fund raising, and promoting a spirit of volunteerism. With these goals in mind, the organization has many events in which brothers in the fraternity actively participate such as No Boundaries Week, PUSH-Academy, Give-A-PUSH weekend, PUSH camps, Journey of Hope, Gear Up Florida, and Accessibilty. These programs along with other events are extremely important to us and help us develop a better community.
The Eta Gamma Chapter has its own program that works with children with disabilities from Fairview High School to do various activities and events together. These events range from bowling to BBQ's to softball.
JOH or Journey of Hope is one of the largest fundraisers for PUSH America. This event is a bike ride accross America starting on the West Coast and finishing on the East Coast. This event requires a lot of planning and fundraising, but is one of the most rewarding for those brothers who choose to participate. The Eta Gamma Chapter had 8 brothers that rode and one worked on the bike crew this last summer! This event alone has raised over 13 million dollars for people with disabilities since 1987.
